What is Intarsia?
Intarsia is a form of artwork where pieces of individually cut and shaped wood is fitted together to form a wall hanging. No paints or stains are used but rather wood is selected for its natural color, grain, and beauty. Since Intarsia is made of individual pieces of wood fitted together, no two Intarsia creations will look exactly alike because the wood color and texture will vary from project to project
What Kind of Wood is used?
Mostly Cedar is used for Intarsia projects since it comes in a variety of colors ranging from almost white to very dark. In certain situations other varieites of wood are selected for their unique color or grain pattern.
Below is a selection of Intersia projects I have made.
